Alabama Forward is a statewide civic engagement network committed to bringing together nonpartisan organizations to work together in building power around progressive civic issues and movement towards greater freedom.
Eligibility for Membership
- Commit to the vision, values, and mission of Alabama Forward
- Be one of the following:
- Nonprofit 501c3 organization
- 501c4 organization whose work in civic participation is limited to 501c3 permissible activities
- An organization fiscally sponsored by a 501c3 organization
- Have a history of and current focus of state-level public policy advocacy or state-level grassroots organizing
- Commit to be nonpartisan in all activities associated with Alabama Forward and in the use of all Alabama Forward resources
- Commit to advancing joint plans and strategies of the Alabama Forward members, consistent with the organization’s own mission, work, and capacity
- Commit to assigning at least two members of your network (staff, volunteers, board members, etc.) to participate in Alabama Forward working groups and support their activities each month
- Participate in building the progressive database (voter file)
- Sign and commit to comply with the Alabama Forward member agreement

Process for Joining Alabama Forward
Applications from organizations wishing to join the table as either members or partners will be reviewed by the Alabama Forward executive director on at least a quarterly basis. After reviewing the mission and work of requesting organizations to ensure alignment with the goals and vision of Alabama Forward, the executive director will make recommendations to Alabama Forward member organizations regarding the applications. Members will have access to each applying organization’s application and all relevant materials ahead of the voting process. The addition of new members and partners will be by a majority vote of the current table membership. These votes will occur via an electronic voting process.
